Australia’s premier performing arts and disability-led festival Undercover Artist Festival is back for 2023. Rolling out the blue carpet at Queensland Theatre from 20 September to 23 September at Brisbane Festival.
Headlining only artists with disability, Undercover Artist promises to bring incredible talent to stage and delight audiences in a way they never knew possible across four incredible days of theatre and dance, comedy, music, cabaret and poetry.
“I am so excited for the Festival to be back in 2023 bringing disabled artist to stage. At Undercover Artist we actively invest our time and energy into supporting disabled artists at every stage of their career, because we know that art should be for everyone – not just to consume, but to make, too.
We believe that our stages should represent our society, which means seeing artists with disability tell their stories with authenticity, meaning, and with power.

The 2023 Festival will again program across three tracks – Creative, Community and Career.
Creative
In the Creative Track provides artists with disability a paid opportunity to showcase their talent on stage performing a professional, high-quality performance.
Community
The Community Track provides artists or ensembles from community organisations an opportunity to connect with industry professionals and take the stage.
Career Track
The Career Track is an opportunity for experienced artists and arts workers to pitch career development workshops or panel talks and discussions with other artists.
Whilst audiences will have to sit tight and wait until July 2023 to see the full program, one thing we can guarantee is – Undercover Artist Festival will be iconic. Showcasing extraordinary talent from international, national and local performing artists that will challenge perceptions and shatter stereotypes.

Undercover Artist exists to profile and promote outstanding work by performing artists with disability.
Originally developed by Access Arts in consultation with artists with disability, the Undercover Artist Festival was formed and debuted in 2015 with a collective group of professional performing artists and individuals with disability spanning across theatre, dance, music, cabaret, comedy and more.
Undercover Artist acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and we pay our respects to Elders, past, present, and emerging. We are committed to honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their unique cultural and spiritual relationship to land, water and seas and their rich contribution to society.
