The venue is wheelchair accessible with level drop off/pick up and one disabled car park available. The workshop will be accessed via a long concrete ramp down to the courtyard space, and the workshop will be hosted in the room nearby. An accessible restroom is available. The workshop space is air-conditioned. You are welcome to get fresh air, stretch, leave the space and return as you need to.  

About the workshop

So, you’re ready to perform. But how do you draw a crowd? Marketing!  

Learn how to sell your show in six weeks with facilitator Nadia Jade, in a focused arts marketing workshop all about how you can create a six-week marketing campaign. 

Delivered accessibly and open to all, this workshop is perfect for emerging and/or independent artists, producers and marketers who are self-producing shows and events for local venues, fringe festivals, and/or touring.  

Topics include: 

  • How to plan a six-week campaign – from on-sale launch to thank you posts 
  • How to manage a small, independent budget  
  • How to decide which campaign tactics to use 
  • Who is your audience – and how to find and connect with them 
  • How to create maximum impact with minimum time and resources  

And so much more!

Audience

Artists who are disabled and/or d/Deaf,and are interested in learning how to better market their work to increase engagement.  

Non-disabled and hearing artists who wish to join are very welcome.

Facilitator

Nadia Jade

Nadia Jade (she/her) is a multipotentialite with a thousand interests, all of which feed into her artistry as a communicator. Across her career she has worked as an indie music booking agent for venues and clubs, as a venue manager for UK nightclubs, in independent radio as a DJ in Australia and Glasgow. She has worked as circus producer and marketer sending shows off across three continents. Her first forays into arts marketing were as an independent artist, so she implicitly understands the parameters of marketing indie events.  

 

Nadia is Editor-In-Chief of alt-art indie media project Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane, and is passionate about rejuvenating arts criticism in Queensland and Australia. Nadia has personally published over 100 pieces of arts criticism plus numerous articles and interviews. She currently works as Marketing Manager for Brisbane Festival, where she is bringing her grassroots experience into play to share the stories of artists at the largest arts festival in Queensland. She is a storyteller with an unerring sense of the zeitgeist, who loves to paint evocative pictures with words, and connect the perfect audience to their perfect show.

Who are these workshops for?

We program these workshops with disabled and d/Deaf artists and artsworkers in mind, but we very happily welcome all artists and artsworkers who are interested in attending.

All events have a REGISTER NOW button at the top of the page.

In-person Workshops

What is the parking like?

The Seven Hills Hub has a carpark onsite, which has 2 designated disabled car spaces and plenty of room for dropoffs and pickups. It connects to the ramp leading to the Backbone-operated rooms where our workshops are held.

 

You can find a map here

You are welcome to arrive from 20 minutes prior to the workshop starting. If you need wayfinding support, please let us know before the day and we’ll wait for you in the carpark to escort you to the workshop room.

When you arrive, we will check your name off the registration list and welcome you inside. Our workshops will start with information regarding breaks, accessibility and location of nearby toilets and other facilities. 

Absolutely. Support workers, support people and companion card holders can attend without charge.

Yes.

Undercover Artist provides light refreshments for its workshops. We recommend that you bring your own water bottle and additional food if you require it.

Yes.

Yes, photos will be taken during the workshop. Any photo taken during the workshop may be used for promoting Undercover Artist and its activities.

 

What if I don’t want mine taken?

If you do not want to be photographed, please let us know when you register and we will double check when you arrive. We will also introduce you to the photographer so they know to avoid taking pictures of you.
